Pretty Packaging DIY

Easily make your own packaging for gifts like jewelry, magnets, pins, hankies and other small items!

A bit of lace, flowers made from scrap cloth and a metal
heart makes a romantic package for some jewelry.  These can be decorated in so many other different ways too!

Patricia Paterno shows us how…

I’ve always wanted to use toilet paper rolls and save them
from the trash heap. I decided to use it for “packaging” or “gift wrap”. All
that is needed is a toilet paper roll, scissors, a lid or bottle to use as a
pattern, a pencil, a cutter, some embellishments and wrappers, and some glue.

First, I flattened the roll, and creased the sides with the
side of the pair of scissors.

Then I used a lid to make curved guides at the end of the
roll for cutting.

The guides have to end at the edge of the roll like a
rainbow.

Use a cutter to make a shallow cut using your pencil lines
as a guide.

Fold along the crease to try it out.

It should look something like this.

Choose a wrapper to cover the roll. I like using book paper.
You can use white glue, or a glue stick. Make sure you leave a margin around
the ends.

Now you can glue down your margins inside the roll.

This was my first try when I used glue all over the roll. It
didn’t turn out so well. It went better when I just used glue sparingly for the
edges of the bookpaper.

I find that gluing just the edges of the paper makes for a
better looking package!!!

Make a V-cut on the two sides of the book paper.

Now for the part I like best- embellishing! Here I used ribbon
and some leaves and flowers from my garden.

Baker’s twine, a tag and some leaves makes a colorful wrap!

Here I used papemelroti Mashi tape and stickers. What to put
inside? Maybe some chocolates!

I experimented using scrap cloth- this one needed gluing all
over.

So easy to make with some ric rac and stickers! Cute
wrapping for some hair bows or clips!
