Do you have extra art materials that a young child can use for a school project?  This is a personal initiative to help scholars from Tahanan ng Panginoon Foundation to fulfill their school requirements.

I chatted with one Highschool scholar and she said that even if she studies hard in school, she has a fear of projects. She has enough for tuition but the budget for materials is really difficult to find. Projects make up for a good portion of their grades.

Soooo if you have some art materials lying about (colorful paper, cartolina, crayons, glue, etc) and taking up space in your home, drop them off at any Papemelroti branch and put c/o Tina – TNP (Tahanan ng Panginoon). They will make some scholar students ecstatic!!!

For any questions, contact Tina at Papemelroti’s main office.

Favorite Pope Francis Sayings

We were so excited to see Pope Francis Friday morning at the Quirino Avenue sidewalk on his way to Malacañang.  The people were waiting for hours and hours and yet they were joyfully anticipating his arrival.

And then there he was!  He was gone in an instant but he ignited a myriad of emotions such as delight, tears, joy and a feeling of being extremely blessed!

Would you believe he blew us not just a kiss but two kisses!

There is just no doubt about it.  Pope Francis is one well-loved Pope!  We are no exception and we wish to share with you some of our fave sayings.

He has countless insightful words.  It’s really hard to choose which one we like best!

You can have your fill with his encyclical Lumen Fidei (Light of Faith).

You can also save these images for your gadget background, to share or for any personal use.  No commercial use is allowed.

What is your favorite?

Artistory: A Book and Book Ends

See what our artists have been up to!

Patricia Paterno, “Patsy” as she is fondly called, a prolific painter and writer has inspired so many through her daily scripture reflections.  Some have expressed a renewal of their faith through her captivating creations.

One of her colored illustrations was featured in Lesley Riley’s book, “Inspirational Illustrated Quotes” with art and words to motivate.

Her pieces are showcased at the annual Art at the Park and she sometimes even gives away prints to those who love her work.

Take a sneak peek at what her latest project is!  She and sister Peggy are regulars on the WOWWA (What’s on Your Workday Wednesday) blog parties.

Patsy does Art Prints for Papemelroti.  See her Sunrise Reflections Series

Have you seen Robert’s specialty tokens for Habitat for Humanity Philippines?

They used these designs to make merchandise for Habitat’s annual “Pamaskong Handog” campaign.  Read the full story here

Robert was also among many artists included at the exhibit ‘Book Ends’ last December 13, 2014 to January 3, 2015 at Blanc Gallery.  “These artists deconstructed tomes, took pages apart, painted on them, and built sculptures on them to redefine what books mean to them.” – Philippine Star, Jan. 3, 2015

Scrap Crafting with Plastic

Here is a simple project that I’ve been doing for quite some time.

All you need is a picture or words on paper,  scissors, clear tape, water, and a piece of hard plastic.  I usually save blister packs from toys or gadgets and cut it up for this project.

Put the tape over the words or picture.

Then you remove the paper by rubbing your wet finger over it.  The words or the picture will remain.

Then I cut out a shape from the blister pack and stuck the clear tape with the words on it.

I punched a hole on it.

I have a whole set to choose from.

This one is a picture.

I also have a lot of trinkets that I can dismantle and use for this project.

I tried making an earring.

This is a key chain.

But I really use this for making embellishments for my scrapbook.  The “eyes” of Mona Lisa are taped on to hard plastic.  You can also make embellishments for all sorts of other things as well- your planner, picture frames, boxes, notebooks, and anything else you can think of! Show us your pictures on Instagram and tag us if you use this project, and you may win a prize!

Papemelroti’s owner and artist Patricia Paterno has been married for 19 years to a man with a good heart. They have one son who is as funny as his dad. She has been working in the family business since she was 11. When she gets home from work, she stays in her craft room and makes collages, scrapbook layouts, ATCs, and thinks of ways to re-use things normal people would throw away. Visit her arts and crafts blog.

She wants to be passionate about God’s passions so she also made a blog, Hebrews 13:3, about their service in the QC Jail.
